Road Safety Week 2023 | Press Conference. Let’s not let our dreams fall apart!

CNP ASFALISTIKI and Cyprus Police Traffic Department, for the 24th consecutive year co-organize the Road Safety Week, from 2 to 8 October 2023. The initiative aims to raise awareness and inform the public, on issues related to Road Safety.

The Road Safety campaign kicked off with a press conference, on October 18th, by the Honorable Minister of Justice and Public Order Mrs. Anna Koukkides-Procopiou. Greetings were addressed by, the Chief of Police Mr. Stylianos Papatheodorou, the Police Traffic Department Manager, Mr. Ioannis Mavrohannas, the CEO of CNP CYPRUS Mr. Takis Phidia and the General Manager of CNP ASFALISTIKI, Mr. Andreas C. Stylianou. During the Press Conference, CNP ASFALISTIKI handed over to the Police, 6 bicycle cars, with which children who will visit the Road Safety Park will practice to the basic rules of road safety.

Through targeted actions such as distribution of luminous reflective vests to motorways and events in shopping malls, as well as the use of social media and radio, this central message will be promoted to the public in order to prevent traffic accidents and protect human life. The actions of this year's Road Safety Week are completed with the Open Day Event that will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at My Mall, in Limassol. At the event, vehicles that had been involved in traffic collisions will be exhibited. Members from motorcycle and bicycle clubs will inform the public about their safety equipment and the appropriate use on the road. Demonstrations will also take place with goggles simulators for the consequences of alcohol, substances and fatigue. The event will be accompanied by a live link, a 360 photobooth and a stilt. Executives from CNP ASFALISTIKI and the Police will inform the participants about Road Safety and will distribute symbolic gifts to the public.

The Road Safety Week is under the auspices of the Honorable Minister of Justice and Public Order.
